Here, we talk about an important tool in statistics and in science, a p-value (or P value). A p-value is useful when comparing experimental data to the prediction of a null hypothesis, but is often misunderstood or used incorrectly. Here, we define a p-value and do a simple example which involves flipping a coin. We also talk about several misconceptions that people commonly have about p-values.
