Breathlessness isn't just a physical symptom. It's also a feeling that affects the way we think and act.
There are 2 main types of breathlessness:
1. Acute breathlessness (sudden onset)
2. Chronic breathlessness (persistent)
There are different causes for each of these and considerable crossover ie problems that cause acute shortness of breath may be due to poor control or worsening of a chronic disease.
If you have a new onset shortness of breath, you should speak to a healthcare professional on the same day.
