What's the Difference Between Gain and Volume?

Many amplifiers have two knobs that seem to make you louder. One is usually labeled "gain" or "input" or "drive". The other is usually labeled "volume" or "master". Which knob should I use? This video explains what the difference is and how you should use each of the two knobs.
