Hi everyone! This is Dr. Maples. Welcome to my online course on research methodology. In this course, we'll learn about how new knowledge is created through rigorous research methodology. To begin today we'll think about where we get our knowledge and how knowledge is formed. To do this, I'll explain how my students control the weather on campus! Next, we'll spend some time considering why scientific knowledge is important as well. Today's terminology: knowledge informal observation selective observation overgeneralization authority research methods science scientific method sociology social science academic sociology applied sociology public sociology Would you like to publish your own undergraduate research? Check out my series on this topic. It is easier to publish papers as an undergraduate than you'd think. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4A7FJI6O01B0LVmFlqZ5BREFHXliru-d Full list of research methods lectures: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4A7FJI6O01AW9QyLRBts5C7rytC7KjIs Photo by 🇸🇮 Janko Ferlič on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/photos/sfL_QOnmy00
