Where does space begin?
At what altitude does space begin and our atmosphere end? Video Breakdown 0:00 Intro 2:00 Engineering Approach & Karman Line 4:33 Karman line on Mars and Venus 5:04 U.S. Difference 6:16 Space Tourism 7:26 Atmospheric Science 11:15 Conclusion In this video, we address the question of the beginning of space. Many people consider the Karman line to mark the edge of space. The Karman line is at 100 km above sea level on Earth. However, a NASA astronaut only needs to travel 80 km above Earth to become an astronaut. The challenge of drawing the line between outer space and our atmosphere is not easy. In this video, we look at the engineering approach to defining a boundary, and how that may compare to the atmospheric science approach. Thanks for watching!
