Soft… effortless… like light. Her name was Helena. And to her partner, she was everything. When the illness came, it did not arrive loudly. It whispered. Her partner stayed beside her through it all. Through the long nights… through the quiet moments… holding her hand as if it could keep her here. But some battles… are not meant to be won. In her final days, she looked at her partner with love, not fear. “Don’t stay in the dark,” she whispered. “Find the light again.” And then… she was gone. The silence she left behind was overwhelming. Every place, every moment… held her. Time moved, even when her partner didn’t. Slowly, the pain softened. Not gone… but changed. And one day… her partner smiled again. Not because of having forgotten her, but because the love she left behind was still alive. And in time, there was love again. Not as a replacement. But as something new. Because love does not leave. It becomes part of who we are. And though there was love again… the partner never stopped loving her. Because some loves… do not end.
