#drainpump #diy #washerrepair #washingmachinerepair I take you through why my washer was leaking and show how to fix it. Other links to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sKEye3aMNI Disclaimer: I am not a washer technician. Perform repairs at your own risk. Here are a few more things to know. I believe my code was a F9E9 Wrong Voltage code. Here is what I found. The F9E9 error code on a Whirlpool Top Load Washer (model WTW5010LW0) indicates a "wrong voltage" fault, which generally means the main control board is detecting too high, too low, or unstable voltage coming from the wall outlet. It can also indicate a failed, locked-up motor or a faulty control board. Here are the steps to fix this, ordered from simplest to most complex: 1. Perform a Hard Reset (Most Likely Fix) Electronic control boards can glitch and misread input voltage. Unplug the washer from the wall outlet for at least 5 minutes. Plug the washer back in and attempt to run a new cycle. Alternative "Lid Technique" Reset: After plugging it back in, quickly lift and close the lid 6 times within 12 seconds. 2. Check the Power Source The F9E9 code specifically points to incoming power issues. Check the Outlet: Ensure the washer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not an extension cord or surge protector, which can cause voltage drops. Test Voltage: Use a multimeter to test the wall outlet for a consistent 110-120 volts AC. Check Circuit Breaker: Ensure the breaker for the washer has not tripped or is not partially tripped (reset it by flipping it all the way off, then on). 3. Check for Motor/Sensor Issues (If Reset Fails) If the motor cannot turn or a sensor is faulty, the control board may interpret this as a voltage error. Run Calibration: Perform a calibration cycle to allow the washer to relearn its motor parameters (check your manual, but it usually involves a specific pattern of turning the cycle knob). Check for Clogs: A jammed drain pump can cause motor strain that mimics a power failure. Check the drain pump filter and hoses for obstructions. 4. Inspect/Replace Components If the error persists after resetting and checking power: Main Control Board: The board itself (part W11481116) may be faulty and unable to accurately detect voltage, requiring replacement. Wiring Harness: Check the wiring harness for broken or loose connections, particularly between the motor and the main computer board.
