We've all been shocked by the number of recent scandals of abuse and lack of care, and what’s come to light is that people knew this was happening but were afraid to speak out, and when they did they were often ignored, sometimes threatened and many have been treated appallingly because they dared to blow the whistle. There is legislation in place to protect whistleblowers. The hope is that the safer people feel and the more protection they have, the more likely they will stand up and speak out.
