Who Told You...... ?
“Who told you that you were naked?” is one of the most profound questions God asks in the Bible. It comes from Book of Genesis 3:11, after Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree. Before that moment: • They were naked and felt no shame • They lived in innocence and openness before God After disobedience: • Fear entered • Shame entered • They hid themselves So God asked: “Who told you that you were naked?” The deeper meaning The question was not just about clothing—it was about: • identity • shame • awareness of brokenness • separation from God God was exposing the change that had taken place within them. What this question still asks today Sometimes people begin to believe: • “I am not enough” • “I am disqualified” • “I am too broken” • “I must hide” And the deeper question becomes: Who told you that? • Fear? • Failure? • Society? • Shame? Spiritually The passage reveals how sin often produces: • shame • hiding • fear of exposure Yet even in that moment, God came looking for them. A powerful insight God asked the question not because He lacked information, but to bring Adam and Eve into awareness and accountability. In simple terms “Who told you that you were naked?” is a question about: • what changed you • what voice shaped your identity • and why you began hiding from God and yourself.
