Why Agentic AI Won't Replace Engineers

Is software engineering dead? With the rise of "Devin," AutoGPT, and Agentic AI, the prevailing narrative is that writing code is a dead-end career. I disagree. In this video, I present the "Steel Man" argument for why the rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated. We aren't looking at a future of replacement, but rather a future of augmentation. I break down the fundamental mathematical, economic, and legal barriers that prevent fully autonomous agents from taking over high-stakes engineering jobs. We discuss why you can't build a deterministic skyscraper on a probabilistic foundation, why the "Review Tax" makes AI code expensive, and why the legal liability of autonomous code might be the biggest blocker of all.
