Lightning is one of natures most spectacular displays, Illuminating the sky in brilliant flashes of light and color. In the United States, it strikes the ground more than 30 Million times a year, any one of them carrying an unbelievable amount of energy. However, all this power is not evenly distributed across the country, there is one spot that seems to summon this incredible phenomenon more than anywhere else, The state of Florida in the southeastern United States. On average central Florida sees the highest density of lightning strikes anywhere in the United States and ranks among the top globally. All this excessive energy is caused by Florida's unique geography which is ideally suited for thunderstorms. These storms are like nothing else on the planet in their frequency and variety. Lightning, Hail, Rainbows, Sprites, Tornadoes, I've seen it all here. This video explains why Florida gets so many thunderstorms each year along with showcasing some of my greatest captures here.
