Why I Quit Amazon Flex

Today’s Amazon Flex 3 hour route paid $97.50 — and I can confidently say it was one of the worst routes I’ve ever done. With 9 stops, nearly 100 miles driven, and delivery locations scattered across the middle of nowhere, this block reminded me exactly why you should always double-check your miles before accepting an offer. 📦 Route Breakdown: Scheduled: 5 hours (6:45 PM – 9:45 PM) Actual Time: Finished by 8:54 PM Stops: 9 Miles Driven: ~94 total (including return) Pay: $97.50 This route started promising — low number of stops, decent payout, and early morning timing. But once I hit the road, it quickly turned into a nightmare: gravel driveways, inaccurate pins, 15–20 minute gaps between each stop, and some houses literally in the woods. At one point, I arrived at a pin with no house in sight. 💬 My Take: Amazon Flex’s Sub Same-Day warehouses are becoming unpredictable. You can get lucky with short, tight routes… or you can get sent 40+ miles away for just a few packages. It’s a gamble. I’ve done over 16,000 deliveries, and right now, Flex just isn’t paying what it used to. ⚡ Pro Tips: Don’t take base-rate routes — wait for surge pay. Prioritize 4–5 hour blocks; they pay better and can often be finished early. Number your packages before loading — it’ll save time, especially in dark early-morning runs. Be cautious with long-distance Sub Same-Day stations — they can easily send you 50 miles out. Between the long drives, poor pay, and high wear on your car, these $97 routes often aren’t worth the miles.
