Before adopting eSpark, Spencer Elementary used several online learning programs—including Freckle—but over time, school leaders began to question whether those tools were truly supporting student learning.
For Principal Eddie Ikard, the issue wasn’t just cost. It was whether the technology was actually helping students grow. Too often, programs became 20-minute center activities—useful for filling time, but not clearly improving outcomes in literacy or math.
In this video, Eddie explains what Spencer Elementary was looking for instead: purposeful, standards-based practice aligned unit by unit to EL Education and Bridges; tools that could support both enrichment and intervention; and modern features that reflect where technology and AI are headed.
