You may be wondering "Why study the Old Testament in Hebrew?" In fact, many pastors and Bible study leaders preach or teach without ever looking at the original languages. Building upon the principles of Paul's letter of 2 Timothy, I illustrate three benefits of knowing Hebrew. These include, 1) Knowing Hebrew gives a more robust theology which enables us to correct poor doctrines. 2) It also helps us to hear the nuances of the biblical text so we can determine what the Bible says. And 3) it allows us to correctly see the literary structure and the author's units of thoughts and emphasis.
