Wide Web Turret Unwind Automatic Splice Sequence

This video shows a wide web, automatic splice sequence of a turret unwind designed to handle various heavy duty films and laminates. The video was taken during a factory acceptance test at New Era in Paterson, NJ. New Era builds a wide variety of turret unwinding equipment, all of which can incorporate a large number of features. This particular unit featured shafted chucking and automatic tension control. The splicing featured rupture-type serrated cutoff knife appropriate for lap splicing of the materials being run on this converting line. In addition, this machine incorporated a sophisticated roll handling system for delivering jumbo rolls to the unwind, as well as a shaft handling system to deal with the wide air shafts.
