In this video, Barbara from the Pembroke College team, introduces 'pitfall traps'. Pitfall traps are a simple and widely used method in ecological studies for capturing ground-dwelling insects and small invertebrates. They consist of a small container (such as a cup or jar) that is buried flush with the ground surface so that any crawling insects or small animals that move across the ground can accidentally fall into it and be collected.
