OH! forgot to mention another good tip for the winter time--RAINWATER!
If you live someplace where winter means rain, like here in the Pacific Northwest, Just put a bucket outside to catch rain water, allow to warm to room temperature and water your houseplants for an added boost of nitrates, a beneficial powerhouse for your green friends.
