While it may not look as dangerous as other tools, the wire weeder works in much the same was as the collinear hoe. Made to kill weeds while they are small, this tool pulls weeds to the surface with a sweeping back and forth motion. The wire weeder was designed by Elliot Coleman in order to reduce bending over as much as possible. The blade is 4" wide and is avaiable as a short-handled tool, as well.
