Wood Burning - Baby Face Portrait - pyrography tutorial
In this pyrography portrait tutorial I will explain how to create the wood burning portrait of a baby’s face. In this 2nd installment in my portrait series I cover everything needed to replicate the artwork. The instructions start out with photo analyses, transferring the image to the paper/board, burning the art, and signing the artwork. The tutorial concludes with how I tried to fix mistakes on the paper and my thoughts about the paper. My apologies on the video color and sound levels. I had some problems with this video and I obviously need some better lighting for my studio. After you have had a chance to review the tutorial, I would really appreciate your thoughts on it. I’m looking for answers to questions like: Is the photo analysis helpful? What did you think of the constant comparison demonstration? Is the tracing demonstration helpful? Did I cover everything you were after? Are the areas you wish I had explained more thoroughly? Burner: Colwood Super Pro II Paper: Lanaquarelle (I don’t recommend it for burning) Time: 3 1/4 hours Size: 4 x 6 inches (10.2 x 15.2 cm) Artist: Brenda Wilkie Video created by: Brenda Wilkie Music written & performed by: Todd Wilkie Clayboard. I used Ampersand’s scratchboard as my backing board because I had one on hand. You can use anything for this like a piece of cheap plywood or thick cardboard. https://www.amazon.com/Ampersand-Scratchbord-10-each/dp/B000IG2OXM/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=ampersand+scratchboard+8x10&qid=1575574336&sr=8-1 White Artist tape. The tape I used is white artist tape to secure the paper to the backer board. https://www.amazon.com/ProTapes-Artist-Flatback-Printable-Console/dp/B00DVAZT0C/ref=sr_1_5?crid=19AL6MIO6CA02&keywords=white+artist+tape&qid=1575574510&sprefix=white+artist%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-5 Paper Tape. I used medical paper tape to secure the image to the paper. The paper tape has low tack, so won’t damage the surface of the paper when you remove it. https://www.amazon.com/Nexcare-Gentle-Paper-First-Dispenser/dp/B0000DH8OC/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=paper+tape&qid=1576093328&sr=8-5 Tombow eraser. I used an eraser by Tombow, but any pencil eraser will work. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=tombow+eraser&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIx8TjvJqv5gIVBRx9Ch2-nAWNEAAYASAAEgLywPD_BwE&hvadid=241912431246&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9033589&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=5974603014261725874&hvtargid=aud-837858999240%3Akwd-7706389506&hydadcr=24662_10400876&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_6jmejrmhvb_e
