When you are updating your WordPress site, if your visitors visit your site, they might see a broken page. For this reason, enabling WordPress maintenance mode allows you to inform your visitors that your site is under maintenance and will be back soon. WordPress has a default maintenance mode page which is usually enabled automatically when you're updating a theme or a plugin. Although it’s not quite fancy it still does the job.
