This project is not about organising stuff as such but more just getting things put away out of the dust. Whenever I have a messy job that involves creating a lot of dust it takes hours to clean up because of all the stuff (tools, boxes, small storage units etc) sitting around on and under my benches. It's pretty much a case of vacuuming every individual item and gets very tedious and wastes a lot of time. Here I've decided to make some drawers under the big bench along the back wall. Now there is no fancy work involved here but I've made drawers like this before and they are strong and durable. Everything is located with pins and fixed with screws, all butt joined. The materials are 16mm,12mm and 6mm MDF. For a bit of fun some colour was thrown in as well.
I arrived at the sizes for the drawers by thinking about the kinds of things I will need to put away but I also kept the number of drawers to a minimum, for example not making lots of shallow drawers thus saving on materials and slides. I still have a bit of work to do filling the drawers and making various fittings, for example a slotted holder for all my saw blades. Hope you enjoy the video.
