Following on from last week's video, I wanted to create a new video using the tips and techniques I talked about in the prior two videos, and actually show you how I would 3D model something from start to finish with these tips in mind. And also how I would have done it working in a VFX studio. I cover how to set up image planes, why reference is important, and then get into blocking out the model.
You don't have to follow along, but I hope this builds off of what I talked about earlier, and gives you more of an insight into how I like to model things, and hopefully that can help you in your own modelling projects, especially if you are a beginner 3D artist.
This was recorded in Autodesk Maya, but the techniques will apply to any polygonal 3D modelling software like Blender, 3Ds Max etc. Although the actual modelling process and tools used will likely be a bit different.
