Your Hope

In June, 2012, my fiance was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in her right leg (Cancer). Not that a sickness such as cancer could ever come at a convenient time, the timing seemed rather cruel as the end of 2012 was supposed to be a big year for her. We were supposed to get married on October 13th, and she was supposed to start her career as well. As a matter of fact, she was supposed to have her first interview the day she found out that she had cancer. Needless to say, this journey has been incredibly difficult for her. However, as my little sister and I talked about Ashly's story, we realized that the difficulty isn't what defines it. She has been incredibly strong - inspiring, really. This incredible strength is, undeniably, supernatural in nature. We have seen Ashly hold on to Christ not only as her source of hope and strength, but as their very essence. We are constantly reminded of His work in her life through things which include but are not limited to how she has not had any complications with the treatment at all, and how he white blood cell count went from below acceptable range to four times the maximum normal range (this was a good thing). Also we see Him at work in her when she goes out of her way to spend time with and bless the kids of our youth group (Awaken Youth Ministries) even if she is feeling crummy. To make a long story short, this cancer has been powerless in breaking her spirit. In fact, it has given her a platform to, through Christ, demonstrate her incredible strength. I'm proud that I get to marry her in a few months. Well, through our reflections in this story, my sister and I wrote a song for and about Ashly. Ash, we hope you are blessed by this. UPDATE: TODAY WAS HER LAST ROUND OF CHEMO!!!!
