Most embedded systems don’t fail because of bad code. They fail because of one decision that seems small at the start — the microcontroller. In this video, I break down lessons from building real products, including a smart water pump controller and a smart power workstation. Some of these designs worked perfectly in early prototypes, but started breaking down as the requirements grew. This isn’t about calling any microcontroller “bad.” It’s about understanding where certain choices stop making sense, especially when you move from a simple prototype to a real product that has to survive scaling, reliability, and long-term support. If you’re working on embedded systems, IoT devices, or planning to turn a prototype into a product, this is something you want to get right early. Let me know in the comments: what microcontroller would you never replace in your design, and why?
