I thought about this project for some time. Finally, I decided a gas compatible version of the original regulator would work best. I built a new regulator and replaced all silicone seals in the engine. The needles are very sensitive, though I did get it running in short order. After getting the camera it refused to run and found the check valve, which was gas compatible, didn't want to cooperate. I ended up using a glow compatible check valve to shoot the video and the video ended up short because the camera battery ran out. I used VP Fuels Small Engine Fuel (Four Stroke containing no oil) and SPL Avenger oil at roughly 16:1. I'm not sure if this is enough oil for the long haul, but it seems OK. This needs further tuning and a new check valve, but I'm certain it will fly this year.
