The commissioner is unable to order a person to use it - which is understandable. But then it leaves it to the Jail to ensure that those who want it, get it. Seems there should be a middle ground here, that if a person wants to be able to use Vivitrol to aid in sobriety they can request the commissioner to order it. The Dane County Jail has a program called Medication Assistance Treatment (MAT) that helps people with addiction maintain sobriety. This program serves our community by helping break the revolving door of addiction-based behavior that leads to future arrests.
