The 44 ton switcher is a diesel-electric type. A total of 386 were produced between September 1940- October 1956 by the GE Transportation Systems. With a max speed of 35 mph (56 km/h) & a tractive effort of 27,000 ILBS (12246.994 Kg) these guys little switchers were made for light industrial switching, you can find them throughout North & South America, Europe & the Middle East.
