NEXT WEEK: Ask Me Anything! Slack invite (post questions here...): https://join.slack.com/t/lockdown-bioinf/shared_invite/zt-f6bbw9mb-migRvvByViA4Djp65h73BQ Countdown: 0:00 Introduction: 6:16 De Bruijn Graphs: 13:00 Choosing K: 21:00 Installing SPAdes: 34:00 Using SPAdes: 37:00 SPAdes output: 45:00 N50: 52:00 Quast: 1:07:30 In lesson #54 we take a look at genome assembly - we discuss de Bruijn graphs and choosing a value of K, and take a look at the SPAdes assembler. Walk through a practical introduction to bioinformatics skills with me while working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Aimed at wet-lab types who want to take this unique and strange opportunity to begin learning some bioinformatics. I am going to begin at the beginning and take it nice and slow. Our first aim will be to develop the skills required to analyse and visualise a (covid-relevant) RNA-Seq dataset.
