9 25 25 Ringmaster Test Runs
Because it's BUNCH more comfortable than hunkering over a cranky plane while it's sitting on the ground in the flight circle, both my "big" Ringmasters got some test-running on my waist-high starting bench. Unfortunately "Old Blue", the Swap-Meet Ringmaster, apparently has a fuel tank failure, bleeding air into the fuel line and making a smooth engine run impossible. It was acting up the last time I flew it, but I thought maybe its fuel line might be punctured...not so. Its metal fuel tank is deeply embedded in its nose, and a younger Kim in "Ye Olden Days", might tear into it, doing the serious surgery that's required. Instead, and Uncle Wayne would shake his head at this, I decided to treat it like a profile model, and strapped a wedge tank to its side. Sure, it's hideous, but I won't be able to see it when in the air, so... The Fox .40 engine in the "Flash-Back .40" is pretty sluggish, so I may mix up a little spicier fuel for it. It was running at about the same RPM's the last time it flew, and was able to do some gentle stuff in the circle, so we'll see. At any rate, they're loose and ready, so it's time to turn to the .049's.
