Many components are located in an assembly in very predictable ways, such as attached to a face or concentric to a hole. By adding a mate reference to the part ahead of time, it can be dragged into an assembly and the most obvious mate will be added during the drop procedure, streamlining your workflow and saving time on commonly re-used parts.
