Animal fact of the day ~ Memory Special 🐠 In the zebrafish, memory can work in a surprisingly flexible way. When it experiences something frightening, such as a sudden threat, its brain records the event so it can avoid the place or stimulus associated with it. What makes this phenomenon fascinating is that the fish's brain does not only store memories. It can also activate biological mechanisms that gradually weaken certain memories, such as those linked to fear, when the environment becomes safe again.
