A game zone to introduce a defensive connection - by focusing on attacking space. In Touch - this defensive style this can be applied after a strike dump, or on 5th and final touch. Firstly - focusing on setting up the game Overload the attack (eg 4v2) Lots of width Attack should start by winning Defence should just about be able to recover PROGRESSION Challenge the attack - a smaller overload (eg 4v3, 5v4, 6v5) Challenge the defence - 1 - bigger overload (eg 6.3) Challenge the defence - 2 - wider pitch (more space to cover) Attack: - Run to score - Run into the space between 2 defenders - Have depth if you don't have the ball - Catch the ball moving - Watch for defensive cues DEFENSIVE CUES - Shoulders facing in or out - Hips facing in or out - Stepping in or out - Lateral space (where are they across the field) Defence - Stay balanced - Keep hips neutral - Hold before you release - Have to stay connected - so they need to communicate - 1st priority is the ball, 2nd priority is releasing
