Here - we are turning a 4v4 into an opportunity for the attackers to quickly take space, use speed and footwork to create an overlap & execute. By the ball carrier identifying the player opposite them, and trying to get them on their heels / to turn in a direction - the ball carrier can then step / juke / manipulate them to go the other way and create an overlap. Setting up the game ✅ 4v4 ✅ Defence start in a flat line - offside ✅ Attack and defence released at the same time ✅ Ball carrier attacks a space either side of their player ✅ Depending on the response - execute a 2v1, a 3v2 or a switch to score THEN ✅ Make it easier - push the defence more offside ✅ Make it easier - give attack more players ✅ Make it easier - Make the grid wider This key principle is understanding who you are trying to beat - and then being able to scan and execute against the other players in defence depending on how they respond. This is very similar to a line break in rugby - where you have to execute to finish the score! Touch (Rugby) is the simplest code of the Rugby family, and is not only the perfect introduction, it's also a great game to play:
