Portland Victoria has Australia's only mainland Gannet colony. These elegant birds spend just a few months on land during summer to hatch and grow their chicks.
The adults come to maturity at about 5 yrs of age and can live for 20-30 yrs. Once breeding, they are monogamous and the displays of affection as their mate is found on their nest is quite endearing.
They're quite chaotic to photograph so I spent 3 days trying to observe and choose compositions for both stills and video.
