You’re confused about where 40 mm comes from in the R28 construction. Let’s break it down
Bottom circle = Ø24 → radius = 12 mm
Required arc = R28
Arc is tangent externally to the bottom circle
When two circles touch externally (tangent) = Distance between their centers = sum of their radii
You have:
Small circle radius = 12 mm ( Outer Circel )
Arc radius = 28 mm
So distance between centers:
12+28=40
👉 That’s where 40 mm comes from.
