Balance practices are one of my most requested programs. To get the best support for your Balance, spread your toes without gripping into the mat. When you push your toes into the mat, you lift the balls of the fees, which gives you less support! Instead, press the base of the toes and your heels evenly into the mat while spreading your toes; this energizes the feet and gives more base of support. Practice Balance on a variety of surfaces: tile floors or other firm surfaces tend to be more supportive. Carpet is cushiony and gives less support as do thick yoga mats— step off your mat onto a wooden floor if your mat is too challenging. Notice which surfaces are most effective for your Balance and start with those.
