Basic Formatting in Spreadsheets
A spreadsheet is made up of cells, organized by columns and rows. Columns are identified by letters, and rows are identified by numbers. The intersection of a row and a column is the cell’s address. Cells can be referenced as part of mathematical calculations. Whether you are keeping a budget, creating an invoice, or formatting a financial report, spreadsheets make it easy to work with different kinds of data. In this short video you will use many of the tools learned in Google Docs to format a basic table in a worksheet that will resemble a board from the popular game Battleship and can be used to practice familiarizing yourself with cell addresses. This video was created in relation to the Utah State CTE standards for the Business Office Specialist High School course. Specifically, this video prepares students to complete Strand 2, Standard 2: Identify and navigate through common software application screen components and Strand 2, Standard 3: Customize formatting and layout options within a workbook/worksheet. This video uses the Battleship Board workbook which you can copy by clicking the link below if you want to follow along. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/162574tnFRIvOHMfmoDRcacQZW1pgJZQB1rETgejlZMw/copy
