The pull drill teaches us the skills of pulling our opponent and escaping from their pull. There are many situations, and techniques for pulling your partner. Some of these will be explained in other drills and methods, but this basic drill is to develop the core skills of pulling and escaping.
Master Liang said," In pushing-hands if I hold you, you must neutralize it. You have to get out of my grasp. Pull is one of the eight postures and must be neutralized. You have to practice the grasping and escaping exercise. As soon as I hold you, before I can pull, you must get out of my grip."
