This video tutorial is about how to finish off a thread. It's so important to know how to finish off a thread neatly, so that no loose ends show in your work. I demonstrate how to weave the thread back into your work, carefully following the previous thread paths, secure it with half hitch knots, then weave away from the last knot and cut off the end, leaving the beadwork lovely, neat and tidy. You don't have to be working on Peyote Stitch to do this, the important thing to remember is to follow the previous thread paths, so that no thread shows up where it shouldn't be. You don't have to work the half hitch knots at the side edge of the work, but it is easiest. Making the knots at the edge doesn't matter at all if you're going to be adding a little embellishment row e.g. some picots or fringing, onto the edge, which would cover the knots. However, sometimes beadworkers want to leave the threads at the edge visible, but not peppered with tiny half hitch knots, in which case, work the knots onto threads between the beads inside the beadwork. That may involve gently bending or curving the beadwork with your fingers, to force it open slightly, in order to get at the threads between the stitches.
