Beetle Pickup Engine Is Running | $5 Exhaust, T2 2L Engine & First Start
It’s alive! In this episode, the Beetle pickup finally fires up, marking a huge milestone in this custom air-cooled build.
I source a T2 2-litre engine, cobble together parts off the shelf, and make it run using pure ingenuity — including an exhaust I paid just $5 for. No fancy parts, no big budget, just making things work with what’s available.
To get it running, I also build a start box, wire everything up, and bring the engine to life for the very first time. Hearing this motor run is a massive win after all the fabrication, problem-solving, and late nights in the shed.
This build is all about doing it yourself, re-using parts, and proving you don’t need endless money to get a classic air-cooled Volkswagen running again.
