*After You Left Me* I used to think a *Broken Heart* was a sudden event, something that shattered once and was over. But after you left me, I realized it’s more like a slow, ambient vibration. It’s the sound of a structure trying to hold itself up when the foundation is gone. It’s a quiet, jagged edge that I stumble against every time I breathe in the silence of this house. I’ve glued the pieces back together as best as I can, but the cracks are where the cold air gets in. They are the lines where the light doesn't hit quite right anymore. I’m walking around with a heart that still beats, but it sounds different now, it’s muffled, heavy, and out of sync with the rest of the world. I’m not asking for a repair.
