Cable Tool Drilling - Dressing Bits Part 3

This is a Bucyrus Erie quenching tank. Here, I am removing the bit from the water after it has been tempered. This is the same bit from part 2. Notice the perfectly straight, sharp point, and perfectly round sides. You can also see the round end cap we use on the pins to lock the bit in the machine. This is a 2x3 API pin, and we have endcaps to fit almost all size API pins. Beside the quenching tank is a big black steel box used to store the finished bits. In the background you can see the next bit being heated in the forge.
