Hexagon Passing Flow - Can they keep the pattern? Created via @SportSessionPlanner Organisation • 6 cones positioned in a hexagon shape (~10 yards across) • 1 player on each cone • Additional player starts on first cone with balls • Extra players rotate from opposite-facing cones Set up: • Passing pattern moves continuously around the hexagon • Players follow their pass after each action To maximise participation: ◍ Duplicate hexagons for larger groups ◍ Keep rotations quick to avoid inactive waiting Practice: • Player A plays a long diagonal pass to B. • B sets/bounces pass into C. • C plays long to D. • D plays long to E. • E bumps pass into F. • F plays long to G. • Ball returns to starting position. • Players follow their pass continuously. Gamified Scoring ⇢ Consecutive successful rotations = 1 pt ⇢ Longest sequence without error = 2 pts ⇢ Team competition between hexagons Progression 1: Direction Reversal On coach command: • Reverse the entire passing direction Forces: • Awareness • Reorientation • Communication Progression 2: Weak Foot / Touch Restriction 2-touch maximum Weak foot passing emphasis Raises: • Technical demand • Passing quality under pressure Progression 3: Player-Led Variations Players create their own: • Passing directions • Rotation patterns • Bounce combinations Challenge teams to maintain: • Rhythm • Spacing • Passing quality Teaching the “Why” Read the Picture ⇢ “Where is the pressure before you receive?” Purpose in the Action ⇢ “Does your first touch protect the ball or expose it?” Change the Rhythm ⇢ “When do you slow to receive?” ⇢ “When do you move the ball quickly?” View session via @SportSessionPlanner https://lnk2ssp.com/s/r7yaj/i/IoxO/Inventive-Play.html Website: https://www.thesportingresource.co.uk/
