Questions 1.What is MFR? 2.What is PFR? 3.What is attainable region? 4.What is batch process? 5.What is continuous process? 6.What is pinch point? 7.What is energy? Answers: 1.Mixed flow reactor (CSTR) • ideal steady-state flow reactor is called the mixed reactor, the backmix reactor, the ideal stirred tank reactor, it is a reactor in which the contents are well stirred and uniform throughout. Thus, the exit stream from this reactor has the same composition as the fluid within the reactor 2.Plug flow reactor • In the PFR thr flow of fluid through the reactor is orderly with no element of fluid overtaking or mixing with any other element ahead or behind. Actually, there may be lateral mixing of fluid in a plug flow reactor 3.Attainable region can be defined as the all possible outcomes of reactor structures 4.A batch process is one in which a series of operations are carried out over a period of time on a separate, identifiable item or parcel of material. 5.A continuous process is a process in which the product comes out without interruption and not in groups 6.Pinch point is the location in heat exchanger where the temperature difference between hot and cold fluid is minimum at that location. 7.Ability to do work
