The Carnot Engine, a theoretical heat engine, is explained with a cylinder and piston using the traditional ideal gas. The cycle states are shown alongside of the mechanical states in an effort to visualize the paths from one state to the next. After the introduction to all 4 states, including the presentation of equations that can be graphed in a computer algebra system, each state is reviewed to show the work that is derived from the processes.
