Manufacturer: Bäuerle dB: 90 95.2 Recording distance: 2m The circular saw is needed for the fifth step of crafting this wooden box. The smaller boards now get cut at an angle to create a house-like shape. The machine produces an unpleasant whistling noise caused by air turbulence in the vent. Just like most saws the circular saw gives of a screeching high-pitched sound when its blade comes in contact with wood. The saw’s movement is clearly audible throughout the process. Since 1949, the name Lessmann has been synonymous with traditional box-making craftsmanship, based in Nördlingen, Bavaria. The workshop is now in its third generation of family ownership under Werner Lessmann. They manufacture wooden boxes for all types of beverages and gift packaging. The company is dedicated to producing beer and wine boxes, as well as custom-made products and designs from sustainable wood. Most of their machines date back to the 1960s, with a few newer ones from the 1980s onwards . And that makes it all the more important to capture their sound. The company’s main customers are beer, wine, and coffee distributors who require special packaging. Here we hear how a six-pack carrier suitable for beer or similar types of bottles is made.
