cod
I am a Cod, so big and round, Where secrets of the sea are found. I swim through water deep and cold, With scales of grey and eyes of gold. The North Sea is a magic place, With glowing plants like silver lace. I flick my tail and dive down deep, While all the tired sailors sleep. I see a crab with legs of glass, He waves his claws to let me pass. The tiny shrimp wear tiny hats, And chase around like water cats. The seaweed whispers in my ear, Of things that only fish can hear. It tells me where the treasure lies, Underneath the ocean skies. I meet a snail with stars on top, Who slides along and does not stop. The jellyfish are floating lamps, In these chilly, blue-green camps. The sand is soft like yellow flour, I swim for many a happy hour. I find a shell that sings a song, As I go rowing right along. There are no hooks or nets for me, In this happy, quiet sea. I eat my fill of magic foam, And call the North Sea floor my home. I am a fish, I am a king, I listen to the bubbles ring. With one big splash, I spin around, The happiest Cod that can be found. The water here is bright and clear, I have no worries, have no fear. I find a cave made out of cake, Beside a blue and salty lake. The rocks are soft like purple wool, The caves are wide and very full. I see a whale who likes to hum, He beats his belly like a drum. The eels are long and glow like neon, They are the best to lean a knee on. They twist and turn in funny ways, Through all the happy, watery days. I find a chest of silver coins, Where every little fishy joins. We do not buy, we do not sell, We like the way the sparkles dwell. The coral grows like candy canes, It never snows and never rains. I find a bed of fluffy moss, Where giant turtles play and toss. They throw a ball of glowing light, To help us see throughout the night. The ocean floor is like a park, Where no one’s scared of being dark. I saw a shark who likes to bake, He made a giant seaweed cake. He shared a slice with every friend, Until the party reached its end. We danced a dance upon the sand, The finest ball in all the land. I moved my fins from side to side, And went along with every tide. I saw a ship that sank away, A long, long time before today. But now it’s covered up in flowers, Where seahorses spend all their hours. They play hide-seek inside the door, And sleep upon the wooden floor. It is a house for one and all, With gardens by the rusted wall. The stars above look down on me, Reflecting in the magic sea. But stars below are just as bright, To keep us happy in the night. I am the Cod who loves to play, And swim the magic blue all day. The North Sea is a wonder land, With silver waves and golden sand. So if you look into the blue, I might be looking back at you. With one big wink and one big grin, I’ll wave my little silver fin. For I am happy, I am free, The biggest Cod within the sea. My home is wide, my home is deep, And full of magic I will keep.
