But faced with the following silence, I had to wonder "How'd we come to this?" You smiled like you mean it You spoke and I believed it But when I begged, you didn't even look up I've been dreaming in color Now expectations sawn asunder I'm left bereft of emotion Feelings in arrears Your plot revealed through your indifference and plunder That debt Your spell From which I may never recover I wrote every scene in my head, directing my dreams But this movie ends with the hero in chains You let me dream in color Because your black heart could not rebound You touched like you feel it You laughed like you need it But when I begged, you simply looked away I've been dreaming in color Now expectations sawn asunder I'm left bereft of emotion Feelings in arrears Your plot revealed through your indifference and plunder That debt Your spell From which I may never recover Why’d you light me up like fire To leave me smoldering ash Now I’m sifting through the pieces Of the old me that died in the flame I’m done waiting on the edge of what will never begin I deserve more than your maybe, now, and then I'm done dreaming in color No expectations to recover Those emotions blown away in the ash "I'm leaving, My Dear!"
