Datevalue and timevalue functions are designed to convert a date that is stored in a text string to a serial number recognized by Excel as a date. The date value is a handy function used in moments where you have data containing dates in a text format. With the help of this function, you would be able to convert the valuable data of dates available in text into a recognizable date format and sorted filter rate and use it in your calculations. On the other hand, the timevalue function is also useful in a similar manner but this one full function for a time where the timevalue is mentioned as a string and needs to be converted in a recognizable time format. Both datevalue and timevalue functions take single parameter and functions almost in a similar manner. You may not come across such data very often but when you do it may drive you crazy, so these functions will be beneficial with such data while performing your Excel calculations. By the end of this video, you should be able to use datevalue and timevalue functions thoroughly and change the text strings of date or time into a sensible and recognizable format of date and time.
