Delayed Pressure 1v1
Created via @SportSessionPlanner Organisation • Area: 10x10 • 2 gates (white cones) positioned on opposite sides • Orange cones mark defender trigger line • 1 attacker, 1 defender per repetition • 1 ball per pair Set up: • Defender starts with the ball • Attacker starts opposite, ready to chase Objective Attacker: ⇢ Collect the ball, attack space, and dribble through either gate. Defender: ⇢ Delay, control the space, and win possession after the trigger. Practice: • Defender passes the ball into the opposite corner/space. • Attacker runs to collect. • Defender cannot engage until attacker crosses the orange trigger line. • Once triggered, defender applies pressure. • Attacker attempts to dribble through either gate. • Reset and repeat. Progression 1: Role Rotation After a set number of repetitions: ⇢ Attacker and defender switch roles Progression 2: Time to Win ⇢ Defender must win the ball within 5–6 seconds after engagement. Progression 3: Gate Restriction Call: ⇢ “Left only” ⇢ “Right only” Gamified Scoring • Attacker scores = 1 point • Defender wins possession = 2 points • Bonus for defender forcing attacker out of area Teaching the “Why” Read the Picture ⇢ “Which gate is the attacker shaping towards?” ⇢ “What is their first touch telling you?” Purpose in the Action ⇢ “Are you trying to win it or control where they go?” Change the Rhythm ⇢ “When do you close fast?” ⇢ “When do you slow to contain?” View session via @SportSessionPlanner https://lnk2ssp.com/s/qtHZi/i/IoxO/Incentive-Play.html Website: https://www.thesportingresource.co.uk/
